Chaining Words I wish I had a song or a poem I could write For every waking moment, to help you sleep at night Perhaps in rhyming couplets like a hero's lonely tale Or in undulating rhythms when a hero's courage fails But certainly in imagery no matter how the rhyme breaks down Into bursts and long composures-- Driving theme into the ground With punctuation, fabrication Anything to fill your fair imagination For I know you sit in lonely days and lonely hours As do I, longing for the power To come to you with more than prayers For those I give to angels' care But I cannot take fairy form for I am chained here to the norm But poems! No, they have no chains When words live in our soul And I'd fill your life with poems just to ease the dreadful lull Of your every waking moment when sleep seems so far away But time will not allow me find The words I wish to say. ~Mika, July 12th, 2003
