THE GATEKEEPER: THE MINISTRY OF THE INTERCESSOR

Introduction:

"Make known to them the design of the temple. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to it’s design and follow all its regulations."(Ezek.43:11)

The Lord gave me this is the scripture a few years ago and He told me to write down what He would show me from His word concerning His Church. Many treasures are hidden in the Word by the Lord, and only the One Who wrote it can show us where they are. When the Lord had me study about the "ordinance of David", I found out that the gatekeepers were a type for the prophetic intercessor. I wrote down what I had found and tried to share it with some people, but it was not the right time and eventually I just put my notes in a file. In 1994 the fire of God fell in different places and the people were touched by it and were drawn into a close intimate fellowship with Jesus. This also happened to me and I was so full of joy over my more intimate relationship with Jesus that one day I asked the Lord if I should just throw away all my notes. Nothing else mattered. But the Lord told me: "No, they are part of the design of the temple (the end-time church)."

On the third of January 1998, John Painter sent a scripture study of his over the Internet which confirmed for me that it is time for me to speak about the prophetic intercessor of the end-time church. His study was also about the Tabernacle of David being a ‘type’ for the end-time church, and about a transition between two tabernacles, the Tabernacle of Moses and the Tabernacle of David. In the Bible, the Tabernacle of Moses lacked God’s presence at the time the Tabernacle of David was being built, yet it continued to operate without His presence. For a time, The Tabernacles of Moses and of David operated simultaneously. Dr. Painter said this represented the fact that during the end times there will be two tabernacles that also operate simultaneously. That is, the ‘church’ with unfaithful ministers and people who are content with empty ritual, and the true end time Church that is full of God’s presence, built by Jesus and not by man. This Temple is a heavenly temple, yet we (the Church) are also the temples of God’s Presence, worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth. In Dr. Painter’s writing, he exhorted us that it is time now to shift our focus from the Church that will come under judgment in the final days to the Church which will remain faithful to the end. We must let Jesus take care of the Church which has lost His Presence, so that we do not neglect His restoration and building of the End-Time Church. He called this shift of focus the time of Transition.

Since NOW is the time of transition, it is also the time for me to share my notes too. First, let us look at the Tabernacle of David.

"After these things will I return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. It’s ruins I will rebuild and I will restore it, that the remnant of men may seek the Lord and all the Gentiles who bear My Name."(Acts 15:16)

These words of the Prophets were said in the book of Acts during the council at Jerusalem, when the apostles agreed not to trouble the Gentiles with the extra requirements of the Jewish Law. We see here that it was Jesus’s mission to take for Himself a people by His name from the Gentiles, and to rebuild the Tabernacle of David to include them also. This will happen in the time of the "remnant", or the end times (Zech 8:12). So, the Ordinance of David is very relevant to us who live in the end times.

In the Old Testament, David had functioned as God’s prophet when received his instructions for the Temple by the Spirit. The design for the Temple was a revelation from God to David, which he wrote down in detail. He then passed on the designs of the Temple to his son Solomon to complete. (1 Chron 28:12,19). The Lord showed me by His Spirit that His gatekeepers are the intercessors, so let us take a look at how the gatekeeper’s came about.

GATEKEEPERS/PORTERS INTERCESSORS.

King David was the one who put the gatekeepers in their places, and their calling was officially confirmed by Samuel the seer and king David (1 Chron. 9:22) King David represents Christ in this story and Samuel represents the Holy Spirit. Christ is the King, or Head of His church. This ministry of the porter/gatekeeper/prophetic intercessor was given to the Body of Christ by Jesus and is empowered and anointed by the Holy Spirit. This is similar to how Paul and Barnabas were sent forth by the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts 13:1-4.

THE DUTIES OF THE GATEKEEPER/INTERCESSOR

The gatekeepers were appointed and put in their place and certain tasks were given them. And so we know that the prophetic intercessors have each received a specific task from the Lord. The gatekeepers were placed at every gate, the entrances to the tent of meeting, on the four sides, east, west, north and south (v.24). These represent the nations and the ministry of praying for the nations, which certain intercessors have.

The chief gatekeepers were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasures in the house of God. Those gatekeepers would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it. They opened the gates each morning. This I believe represents the assignment to pray specifically for the ministries in the church (1 Chron. 9:26) or for the finance (2 Chron 31:14). I believe that God has given to some intercessors special faith to believe Him for the finances that are needed to do a specific work.

Shallum of the Korahites and some of his relatives were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent (1 Chron.9:19). They were continuing the ministry of their fathers who had been keepers of the entrance to the Lord’s camp. They had to keep watch over the coming in and going out of the tent of meeting during the day. Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service. Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary. (v27-29). The first born of Shallum had the responsibility of the bakery, and some of the his relatives were responsible for the showbread. In addition, we see that there were some gatekeepers who were in charge of guarding the Temple from any impurity: "And he set the porters at the gates of the house of God, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in." (2 Chron. 23:19)

Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and I believe that God appoints intercessors to pray over us. Especially when we are placed in the frontlines, facing the enemy in spiritual warfare, it is good to have some intercessors praying for us and stopping the flying arrows with their shields of faith. Did you know that the shield of faith in Eph 6 was in the shape of a door? It is important that certain things be checked at the door and not let in!

The Intercessor’s Hidden Ministry

Before we continue, I would like to say some general things about the ministry of the prophetic intercessor. First, I will speak of the intercessor part. You might argue with me and say that everybody is called to be an intercessor. I believe what the word of God says on this subject and I do see how people are called upon to interceed at times. In 1 Chron 9:25 we read that "their brethren were to come after (for a period of) 7 days, from time to time with them". But to be a prophetic intercessor means a full-time job as gatekeeper in His temple. In 2 Chron 35:15 we read: "the porters waited at every gate. They might not depart (available 24 hours per day) from their service, for their brethren the Levites prepared for them." It is a specific full-time calling and ministry from the Lord, just as there are other specific callings and ministries (1 Corinth. 12:5)

Jesus even referred to this ministry being carried forth in the New Testament when He told his disciples:

"It is like a man, away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert." (Mark 13:34)

Jesus also talked about this type of ministry, when His disciples asked Him to teach them to pray:

"When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."(Matt. 6:6)

I would like to meditate a bit on this portion of scripture regarding intercession. Intercession is a "hidden ministry". I heard of an African speaker at an intercessor’s conference who said, "the ministry of intercession is a ministry whereby waste and impurities are removed from the Body and where birth takes place. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the place on our body, which we normally keep well covered!" (1 Corinth. 12:20-25)

The Intercessor’s Prophetic Ministry

I call those with this ministry of the gatekeeper intercessor, "prophetic intercessor" because I believe they are part of the ministry of the prophet in Eph. 4:11. That is to say, this ministry is one of the types of prophetic ministries. Because they are prophetic, the prophetic intercessor is equipped by the Lord with the ability to see what is in people’s hearts as Jesus reveals (Luke 2:35) Also, God shares His heart’s secrets with the intercessor (Amos 3:7). He shares it with them because he wants them to pray about it, and so they will pray according to His will and the Spirit’s leading. Their reward is the joy they will experience when they see their prayers answered right before their eyes.

This is a prophetic ministry also, and so they may be sent to bring a word to those whom God shows them, as the Spirit wills. It is important that the prophetic intercessor not take prophesying lightly. They must not be ignorant about the prophetic ministry and understand their responsibility in this case is the same as a prophet. So they must be careful to be certain that they have spent time in God’s presence, they have heard well, and it is to the right person at the right time. Otherwise, they may speak when the Lord has not sent them (Jeremiah 23:21)

Some well-meaning but ignorant intercessors have talked out of turn when God has not asked them to. They see things that need changing in the congregation and instead of going to the Lord with it, in their inner chamber, they talk to others about it or go to the pastor and bring him a word of correction, while God has not sent them. Division and other problems can occur. For this reason many pastors are a bit weary of their intercessors. They are happy to have them serve as intercessors but careful of their prophesying.

Some pastors are suspicious of prophesying in general and may have problems any time it occurs, especially if it is not what they expected or wanted. David received Nathan’s word of correction, but Saul did not receive Samuel’s. In the case of anyone who may lash out against the prophetic intercessor, the intercessor will suffer the various things that prophets do. If this happens they must forgive and rejoice. (Matt. 5:12) He or she must have the shield of faith ready for whatever the darts the enemy may bring. Whether to speak or not to, the prophetic intercessor must obey the leading of the Lord and not have a fear of man but a fear of God. They must remember not to let anyone tell them that it is not their ministry to also prophesy, however seldom that may occur.

The Names Of The Gatekeepers And Their Meanings:

The gatekeepers are a type for the prophetic intercessors in our time, and the Holy Spirit instructed me to give close attention to the names of these gatekeepers. He showed me that the names apply to the prophetic intercessor’s ministry as a whole, yet also refer to specific anointings the intercessor might have. The Holy Spirit will decide which anointing is required for the job that is required. So, even though an intercessor might function in one or some of the anointings most of the time, the Spirit will give as He wills for the need of the moment. We must not assume that the anointings will always be the same all of the time for the individual.

Also, it is important to understand that the ministries or ‘jobs’ overlap. When we look at the example given in the Ordinance of David, we see that certain gatekeepers were assigned to a job or a set of responsibilities, yet at times they helped each other. This shows there is to be teamwork amongst the intercessors as needed. The chief of porters coordinated all, showing that one person coordinated. There are groups of intercessors and you will find that God will let one of them take the lead. This is the one who knows the mind of the Spirit for that meeting, and this can change from person to person as God wills for each meeting. Because it is the Spirit who should lead and not man, anointings are transferable according to His will, and this includes the leadership anointing.

When we look at the meaning of the names of those gatekeepers, as the Holy Spirit instructed me to do, we discover that the names reveal the ministry of the gatekeeper and of the prophetic intercessor. There are many names of gatekeepers throughout the O.T., but the Holy Spirit showed me only certain names had significance and described the ministry of the intercessor. I also made a study of all of the names, but they were too many. So, I came back to only the ones the Holy Spirit pointed out to me. You will find that I use the Hebrew meaning of some names in the OT quite often. I do not do this at random, but as the Spirit of the Lord directs me. I thought I must just say this.

SHALLUM(1 Chron 9) was the chief over the porters and his name means:

TO RESTORE, TO PAY RETRIBUTION, TO HAND OUT DESERVED PUNISHMENT FOR EVIL DONE.

Psalm 149 asks the sons of Zion to rejoice in the Lord in song, instruments and dance. Verses 5-9 says the godly one will sing for joy on their beds. With the high praises of God in their mouth and a two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12) in their hand , they will execute vengeance on nations, peoples and kings. I believe that the nations and kings in Psalm 149 :7-9 are demonic principalities and powers that are binding the people.

In the book of Jude, we see a description of the wicked in our midst during the End Time church, and we are told that Enoch prophesied that judgment and conviction will come upon these wicked by the active host of the Lord. Jesus said that He had not come to judge the people, but He also said that the very Word He spoke would judge (Heb. 4:12) . While mockers increase, the beloved of God are to keep themselves in the love of God, "praying in the Holy Spirit" (Jude vs. 20). Enoch’s most outstanding feature was that he walked with God (in close fellowship).

AKKUB: PURSUER, TO FOLLOW IN ORDER TO OVERTAKE AND CAPTURE.

We are not to be chased by the enemy and his demons, but are to chase after them.

TELEM/TALMON: TO BREAK UPON OR TREAT VIOLENTLY.

Intercession is going after the enemy of our souls with a vengeance using the judgment written, which is the sword of the Word.

MESHELEMIAH(1 Chron 9:21): UNITED WITH JAH FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE.

Jesus is our Intercessor, but He chooses to share that burden with some of us, His intercessors.

JEDIAEL (1 Chron 26): KNOWING GOD.

An intercessor knows God and has an intimate relationship with Him and knows His heart. This is for every intercessor.

ZEBADIAH: JAH HAS GIVEN.

This ministry is a gift from God to His church (Eph.4:11). He is someone who has a prophetic anointing, a prophet.

OTHNI: FORCIBLE. (The violent take it by force Matt 11:12)

Some intercessors are used in birthing or ‘pushing through’ in prayer the ministries and purposes of the Lord. I see this here.

REPHAEL: GOD HEALS

We can stand in the gap when someone sins any sin not leading to death. . (James 5:16 the prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Also 1 John 5:16.)This is a specific commission for a specific intercessor. He is as it were a specialist in this, but other intercessors can be called upon by God to pray for the sick.

ELAM: HIDDEN, CONCEALED. (1 Chron 26) Intercession takes place behind closed doors. This describes the hidden prayer ministry of all intercessors.

JOAH: LIKE JEHOVA. The intercessor is the one with whom God wants to share His heart. He knows God’s heartbeat. He is a friend of God like Abraham was.

SIMRI: WATCHFUL, ALERT. As you know the firstborn in a family in Israel had certain privileges and blessings above the other brothers. Simri was lifted up by his father and made chief even though he was not firstborn . He was diligent at his job and that is why his father honored him.

As you know the gift of discerning of spirits makes one able to distinguish what is of the Lord and what is of an evil spirit. Not only that, but some are given this anointing to discern the way and will of the Holy Spirit in a meeting or situation. Many prophetic intercessors are ‘alert’ in this way and able to 'see' and know what the Spirit is doing now and what He wants to do next. One needs to be sensitive to what the Spirit wants to do, because when you carry on prophesying when God wants to heal, you are bound to miss what the Lord wants.

We need to know the will of the Lord for the meeting and so the Lord gives this anointing to whom He will. Simri is a ‘chief’ anointing just as Shallum’s is, and that is explained above. There will always be in every meeting, as the Spirit wills, someone who knows the mind of the Lord for that meeting. This makes him chief . Selah! (Think about that).

SHEBUEL: GOD RESCUES, PULLS IN, TAKES BACK. This intercessor again has a specific job, and gets equipped for that with the mercy and serving capabilities that others might not have. One could say that this intercessor has a shepherd’s anointing or quality to his ministry. Because he can see people’s hearts, he has to guard his heart from becoming critical. God wants the intercessor to be loving and compassionate. We need God’s love as described in 1 Cor 13, to be an effective intercessor. The power to love in this way is available to us by the Spirit (Romans 5:5).

The Intercessor In The New Testament

Let us look at the intercessor in the New Testament.

JESUS OUR INTERCESSOR, IS OUR EXAMPLE.

The intercessor has to follow in the footsteps of His master, Jesus:

"And He put on righteousness like a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle. (Isa 59:17)"

This helmet and breastplate we find again in the New Testament (Eph. 6:10-18).

"And take the helmet of salvation" Eph 6:17.

In Isa 59 the Lord puts on the same helmet and invites us to do the same. We find the description of this helmet in Phil.2:5-11, which tells us to have the same attitude of Christ.

THE INTERCESSOR MAKES HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION, TAKES ON THE FORM OF A SERVANT, HUMBLES HIMSELF AND BECOMES OBEDIENT UNTO DEATH. THE INTERCESSOR MUST HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.

THE INTERCESSOR MUST BE ONE WHO DESIRES AFTER TRUTH AND WHO IS WILLING TO STAND IN THE GAP FOR HIS BRETHREN.

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth " (Eph. 6:14)

THE LOINS ARE GIRT ABOUT WHEN ONE WANTS TO MOVE OR HAS TO WORK.

"Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem and see now and know and seek in the broad places thereof, if you can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth, and I will pardon it" (Jer. 5:1)

How can a city or the church be saved? By righteousness, by someone seeking the truth. When Jesus died on the cross, He said "It is finished’ and he became King of kings and Lord of lords. He has already won the victory for us. We must walk in that victory. For example: when a spirit of division tries to rule over a city or church, we need to walk in righteousness and seek after the truth and become peacemakers. Then our prayers will be answered.

THE INTERCESSOR BEARS THE NAMES OF GOD’S CHILDREN ON HIS HEART BEFORE THE LORD.

"Having on the breastplate of righteousness". (Eph 6:14).

"And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually. And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and Thummim and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart when he goeth in before the Lord." (Ex 28:29-30).

Jesus is now our High Priest and He lives forever to make intercession for us. The Holy Spirit was sent to be Helper. He helps us pray and He tells us what Jesus tells Him. Sometimes the Lord wants us to pray with Him and He shares His heart with us through His Holy Spirit in us. (Heb 7:25/Rom 8:26,27).

THE INTERCESSOR CAN STOP AND MAKE NIL AND VOID EVERY DART OR ARROW, EVERY NEGATIVE WORD, SPOKEN OVER THE CHURCH OR THE BRETHREN.

"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts (arrows) of the wicked". Eph 6:16.

The shield mentioned here, was a large door-shaped shield, large enough to cover one’s whole body in battle! Once it was put in front, it could protect the entire body from head to foot! "Arrow" speaks of the human tongue, speaking evil (Jer 9:8/Psalm 57:4). Isa 54:17 speaks about the weapons (darts, arrows) formed against us, and tells us how we may condemn every tongue that is risen against us in judgment.

Eph. 6:18: "Praying always with all prayer and supplication (strong incessant pleadings) and watching (keeping alert and awake) thereunto with all perseverance (be close in pursuit of) and supplication for all saints."

THE INTERCESSOR MUST HAVE THE REVELATION GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT SO THAT HE CAN PRAY EFFECTIVELY.

"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace." Eph 6:15.

"And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!" (Rom. 10:15)

THE INTERCESSOR MUST WAIT ON GOD TO GIVE HIM THE RIGHT SWORD FROM THE WORD, TO USE FOR THE SITUATION, HE IS PRAYING FOR.

(Eph. 6:17: "And take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God". RHAYMA is the Greek word for ‘Word’ here, which means a charge, discourse, statement, or MESSAGE from God)

THE INTERCESSOR IS SENT BY GOD AND GOD GIVES HIM THE SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE("For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure." (John 3:34) THE LORD GIVES YOU JUST WHAT YOU NEED FOR WHAT HE HAS SENT YOU TO DO.

Now let us look at Jeremiah 23, where God rebukes those who did not pray and did not prophesy His Words:

Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you. They are leading you into futility; They speak a vision of their own imagination, Not from the mouth of the LORD. They keep saying to those who despise Me, 'The LORD has said, "You will have peace"'; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say, 'Calamity will not come upon you.' But who has stood in the council of the LORD, That he should see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and listened? (Jer. 23:16-18)

Here, God is saying that no one has sought Him in the inner chamber, the place of the intercessor. They have not perceived His Word nor paid attention to it in this inner chamber with Him, and they have not actually heard from Him. Instead, they have prophesied without Him sending them (Jer. 23:21).

God says He sees these false prophets who have not sought His counsel in prayer, and who have talked out of turn and prophesied without Him (Jer. 23:23-28). These prophets have led His people to forget His name. Then He says:

"Is not My word like fire?" declares the LORD, "and like a hammer which shatters a rock?" (Jeremiah 23:29)

You see the Word of God is like fire, which tests and consumes and no one can stand against it. This Word is as powerful as the hammer that breaks the most stubborn rock.

Now let us look at Job 33:14-28:

"Why do you complain against Him, That He does not give an account of all His doings? "Indeed God speaks once, Or twice, yet no one notices it. In a dream, a vision of the night, When sound sleep falls on men, While they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction, that He may turn man aside from his conduct, and keep man from pride; He keeps back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over into Sheol. (Job 33: 13-18)

God speaks directly yet they do not pay attention. So He speaks to them in a dream and instructs them, so they may turn from his conduct and so they do not continue in their pride. This way, He keeps their soul from going into the pit. But if they do not listen, He disciplines them another way:

"Man is also chastened with pain on his bed, And with unceasing complaint in his bones; so that his life loathes bread, And his soul favorite food. His flesh wastes away from sight, And his bones which were not seen stick out. Then his soul draws near to the pit, And his life to those who bring death." (Job33:19-22)

God brings gives him great suffering and pain, and brings him close to death. What is needed is the intercessor:

"If there is an angel as mediator for him, One out of a thousand, To remind a man what is right for him, Then let him be gracious to him, and say, 'Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom'; (Job 23: 23-24)

God’s voice may be heard if there is a hearer or a messenger, someone who is a mediator like Jesus and is one among a thousand. This interpreter listens and interprets God’s message for the man, showing him what is right for him (How to be upright and in right standing with God)

The result of this right Word brought forth at the right time by a person sent by God is seen. God is gracious to him and says "Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom" Somebody had prayed through for that man and delivered the Word which was full of God’s power and purpose (the fire and the hammer). The man’s flesh has been restored and he also prays to God himself, repenting, and God restores his righteousness! (Job 33: 25-28) Wow!

Now you should notice by now that the prophetic intercessor is the mediator who can save a man from the pit. I must say here that it is important for the Word to be true and delivered in God’s timing. If it is not, it will not have God’s effect. The words that are not from God and are premature are useless and angers the Lord. Also, a word full of religious condemnation that is not spoken in love is destructive, serving to harden a person’s heart even more. Proverbs says a brother offended is like a walled city (Proverbs 18:19). These words do not help a person grow, but are more bondage (Eph. 4:15).

LET ME GIVE YOU A LITTLE TESTIMONY to demonstrate this.

Around 1969-1971 I fell in love with Jesus and had a gift to bring the Word. I was already in demand as a speaker. However, my personal life was chaotic at home. I had grown up at boarding school, never learned domestic skills, and had two left hands for housekeeping. I could not cope with three little kids, age 0, 2 and 3 years old. I had no vacuum cleaner or , washing machine. We were struggling because we were new emigrants. We had bare floors and no curtains, and I did not know how to make something out of nothing.

Our marriage was bad and there was no communication: my husband was drinking when we got saved.  My husband was satisfied with going to church once a week and he could not understand why I wanted to go to every meeting there was.  This was my way of coping with our circumstances.  But I was running away from my responsibilities as a mother and wife. I was only too glad to leave the housework and kids to the nanny who was working for us.  Ministry was my outlet.

Then I had two miscarriages, one after another, I had emergency operation after the first miscarriage, with stiches left in afterwards all through my body. These stitches were extremely painful. Anyway, before the first miscarriage an intercessor wrote me letters that I had to take care of my husband and kids, and that I was neglecting them. Later, at a time while God was trying to minister to me about rejection, people were not showing God’s mercy or compassion. Once, while I wept over my lost baby, someone even told me it was God’s punishment for neglecting my family!

I knew better than the warnings of those intercessors. Bob Mumford used to call this VRG - verbalized religious garbage. That is what I knew it to be. I said to myself: Didn't the Bible say that if I did not love all my relatives more than Him I was not worthy to follow Him? I clung to Him for dear life. Looking back, I think I would have landed in a mental institution if Jesus hadn't stepped into my life then. I was 26 and needed deliverance from demons and healing from rejection, not condemnation. So their words had no effect and only served to harden my heart even more.

However it was as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:3-5 when he said he could not even examine himself completely: "My heart does not condemn me, but that does not make me innocent." Only the Lord can examine and we must wait until He comes to reveal the intentions of the heart. The intentions of my heart were that I loved Him with all my being and He was my ONLY reason for living. I did love my kids but I could not take care of them like I should.

Anyway, after the operation I had such pain inside that my colon went into spasms whenever I put my feet on the ground. The pain was so excruciating I would sometimes almost pass out. One night while I was hospitalized, I cried out to the Lord: "What is wrong? What are You trying to tell me?" Then I had a dream about a brother and sister in the Lord from UK who had been in Port Elizabeth where I lived. We had spoken to each other only once for about 5 minutes, so they did not know me and I did not know them. I dreamt they came to see me and brought an answer from the Lord for my situation.

So the next day I phoned this brother in whose home I met the brother and sister in my dream. "It's funny that you should phone now," he said, "Brother Kent and his wife just came back from Kenya and will be ministering in my home tonight and return to the UK tomorrow". So I asked this brother to ask them to come and see me and told him about the dream. Later, brother and sister Kent walked into the ward where I was laying. Brother Kent stood at the foot of my bed, didn't bother to say hello, but just said: "Sister, why is it, that you cannot have faith? Is it not because you neglect your husband, because you neglect your children? The Lord told us to tell you this when we prayed for you". Then sister Kent quoted the Bible and said: "Those that do not take care of their own household are worse than an unbeliever is."

Wow, the hammer and fire struck target and I knew God was speaking and repented there and then. It took awhile before I learned fully how to be a mom and wife, but two days after I came home the Lord healed me. The Lord later continued to heal and deliver everything that was not right with my marriage and myself. Now those intercessors before were in the wrong spirit and so gave the wrong word.  Some of what happened to me and my marraige was found out to be from a curse by a relative in the occult.  It would have been better if they had just prayed, because when they talked out of turn, I felt more rejected and hardened my heart and could not hear. But when it was God's time to deal with this, my heart was prepared through suffering and I heard!

THE INTERCESSOR MUST SUBMIT TO THE LORD (James 4:7) AND HAVE HIS MIND RENEWED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE WORD. (Rom 12:2)

THE HOLY SPIRIT REMOVES ALL BARRIERS AND PULLS DOWN STRONGHOLDS THAT PREVENT US FROM KNOWING GOD (2 Cor 10:4-5), SO THAT WE MAY PROVE WHAT IS THE GOOD AND THE ACCEPTABLE AND THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD. (Rom 12:2)

THE INTERCESSOR MUST NOT BE DOUBLEMINDED (James 1:5) BECAUSE GOD WILL NOT HEAR HIM THEN AND HE MUST NOT BE PASSIVE BUT GIRD UP THE LOINS (the pro-creative power) OF HIS MIND (1 Pet 1:13). HE MUST KEEP HIS MIND, STAYED ON THE LORD (Isa 26:3)

THE INTERCESSOR MUST BE FREE FROM A RELIGIOUS SPIRIT!

A religious spirit brings:

  1. Condemnation - shows us what is wrong, but not how to make it right, loading us with guilt.
  2. Despises women. - prevents them from taking their right place and function in the Body of Christ.
  3. Harshness -words bring despair, not healing.
The Holy Spirit brings:
  1. Correction and conviction without condemnation. Shows us the way out. How to make right.
  2. Places women in their proper place in the Body.
  3. Brings wisdom from above, which is gentle and pure, bringing restoration and healing.
I believe that in the realm of the Spirit there is neither male nor female, Jew or greek, ... but we are all one in Christ, all seed of Abraham and co-heirs with Christ. (Gal 3:28,29). The apostle Paul had to write that simple fact to the Galatians because of their legalism and religious spirit. The religious spirit brings discrimination and uses legalism to bring more differences and separation between us than there really is in Christ. When we recognize that we are co-heirs with Christ, we have no need to be biased toward one another. At the end of this story I just want to make this remark: This is to make sure that people understand that this message is for women as well as men, because women can have a religious spirit too. They can also practice discrimination, even toward other women!

IT IS TIME FOR THE INTERCESSORS TO BE PLACED IN THEIR RIGHT POSITION

Whenever God wants to do a work, the intercessors must first be put in their place at the entrances, just as King David did. IN THE BODY OF CHRIST, THIS IS DONE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. (Who works through the prophets and teachers, some of whom may be apostles, as we see in Acts 13. Notice this begins with prayer).

It is important to remember that the prophetic intercessor must be available to God, 24 hours per day and so it is not wise to be involved in any other ministries in the church, unless God specifically says so. Years ago I met such an intercessor, a sister from the United States. She told us that God had told her to be 24 hours per day available to Him, to be called up to pray. She was also a wife and mother. She told us that she had a friend living in town, and this friend had prepared a room for her. Whenever she was in town, doing her shopping and this burden to pray would come upon her, she would go to the house of her friend. She had a key to go inside and she would go to her prayer room and pray until the burden lifted and she had prayed through.

I also know about a prophetic intercessor in Capetown, South Africa. Not many people had ever met him personally, but the Lord told him to pray for the ministry and specifically for pastors and leaders. Many pastors and leaders would phone him when they were in need and he would write down their names and bring them before the Lord. Sometimes the Lord would speak to him and when the person he was praying for phoned him again, he would give them what the Lord had told him. His name and phone number was passed on from leader to leader. When I first heard about him he was in his eighties.

Since I have been in Holland, I have met two such intercessors. I recognized them in the Spirit. They pray most of the time at home behind closed doors. Both of them I noticed have a close intimate relationship with the Lord. You could feel the Lord’s Presence when being with them. They are both praying for the church in Holland and I hope they will still see the answers to their prayers. Simeon saw the answers to his prayers when they brought baby Jesus to the temple.

I am convinced that there are many such intercessors hidden everywhere. The Lord sees them and they are very precious to Him. To them, praying is a way of life. They find it difficult to believe that others do not feel the same way about praying as they do. Although these intercessors pray in their prayer closets, I do not believe they should go without being properly placed. I believe the time has come now for those prophetic intercessors to be recognized and take their rightful place in the end-time Church, just as they did in the Tabernacle of David. We need to respect them and support them so that they can do what God has called them to do. This does not mean expecting them to struggle to pray and serve while we do not take care of them. Yes, this ministry is a full time ministry just as the gatekeeper’s ministry was for the Tabernacle of David. When Nehemiah restored the "ordinance of David" in Jerusalem, the gatekeepers /porters were fed from the storerooms, so that they could spend all their time and energy to fulfill the task which was given to them. Selah! (Stand still and think about this....)
